I love the way Liam Heslop the winemaker talks about how he made this wine, “We just put all the fruit in a fermenter and left it…” I think it beautifully depicts what Liam and the Heslop wine ethos is all about; express terroir, let the fruit do the talking and look after the land which they farm.
The grapes were handpicked from the Miramar vineyard North of Mudgee, the vines were planted in the 1970s so 47 year old vines… not bad. Liam then placed all the fruit whole bunch in a fermenter and let nature turn it into wine. The results are fun, fleshy and fruity. With the early drinking style of Shiraz being very gluggable.
